Texas State University Student Health Center ~ Pharmacy

Pharmacy

Our pharmacy is fully licensed just like any other retail pharmacy available to the general public; however, the Texas State Pharmacy is specialized in that only Texas State students may use our services. Because we are part of Texas State University-San Marcos, we are a non-profit establishment. As a result, we are able to offer prescription drugs at discounted prices.

  • Service
    • As part of the Higher Educational System in the State of Texas, we feel that patient education on prescription drug use is an important aspect of our duty. Besides offering drug items at reasonable prices, we are here to instruct and to answer questions on drug use as well. To receive service, please bring your Texas State ID card. Our hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    • If you have any questions regarding prescriptions or prices, please call us at (512) 245-3590.
  • Prescription Orders
    • Please check out our service when you need a prescription filled, either from your own private physician or one of our physicians on staff at the Texas State Student Health Center.
    • All prescriptions and refills must be picked up within seven working days or they will be returned to stock. The pharmacy will not call you. It is your responsibility to see that your prescriptions are picked up in a timely manner.
    • View our formulary to see which prescriptions can be filled here.
  • Insurance
    • Many of you may have insurance coverage on prescription drugs with co-pays. Currently, we accept only the Texas State student insurance plan. View details on the plan. Many of our prescription prices are less than insurance co-pays, so do not hesitate to ask for our prices and compare. We want to help you get the best deal possible.
  • Prescription Transfer
    • If you have a prescription currently filled at a retail pharmacy and would like to transfer it to the Texas State Pharmacy, simply present us the prescription label from your last fill, and we will do the rest.
    • If the label is not available, please provide the following information:
      • Name and telephone number of the pharmacy which has the prescription
      • Name of the patient
      • Name of the medication and/or prescription number
  • Over-The-Counter Items
    • The Texas State Pharmacy also has selected generic antihistamines, decongestants, analgesics, contraceptives, and many other items in stock for temporary self-treatment at affordable prices.
  • Medication Information
    • For information on medications, supplements, and natural medicines, visit HealthTouch.
