Check out what Jackson Katz had to say about his

Bad Boys & Bystanders lecture he did here on campus!

In this multimedia lecture, Jackson Katz discussed some of the cultural factors that help  define dominant definitions of manhood, such as media and sports culture. He focused on key dynamics in male peer cultures that discourage "good guys" from challenging prevailing social norms about what constitutes "manly" attitudes or behavior, even when they are uncomfortable with them or disapprove. Dr. Katz also provided a basic overview of the "bystander approach" to gender violence and bullying prevention, a widely popular violence prevention strategy of which he is one of the original architects.
