Sexual Health Questions and Answers Sexually Transmitted Infections

These pages provide information about contraceptive options, pregnancy and safer sex. Although condoms and dental dams are the most prescribed way to have safer sex, especially for college students, the choice is ultimately belongs to you and your partner. You will have to decide what behaviors are comfortable and encouraging for your relationship. In addition, your choice of prevention may change as your relationships develop. As you make these decisions, remember to remain in communication with your partner. The following questions may help you to introduce the subject or to discuss it further:

  • Will it fit into your lifestyle?

  • How much will it cost?

  • How convenient is it to use?

  • How safe is it?

  • How effective is it in preventing pregnancy?

  • Will it help prevent sexually transmitted infections?

For more information or for any questions you may still have, call the Student Health Center at (512) 245-2167 for general information or to set up an appointment.
