SENIOR MEDICAL BILLING SPECIALIST (Admin Asst II)

Salary:  $2,675 - $3,000+/month commensurate with experience

Job Description

The Administrative Assistant II -Senior Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for filing insurance claims, posting insurance payments, processing insurance denials, filing appeals, and training staff and medical providers on proper billing and coding techniques. This position will also be responsible for supervising, hiring and training other medical billing staff. This position reports to the Supervisor of Cashier and Billing Operations.

Duties

1) Ensure timely filing of insurance claims and collection of insurance revenue.
2) Process insurance claims and post insurance payments.
3) Process insurance recoupments, denials and appeals.
4) Coordinate efficient and effective insurance billing processes.
5) Ensure insurance contract compliance.
6) Train staff and providers on proper coding.
7) Supervise, hire, and train other medical billing staff.  

 

Required Qualifications

1) Recent & relevant experience and knowledge of medical billing/collection practices.
2) Recent & relevant experience and knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding.
3) Recent & relevant experience processing insurance denials and appeals.  

 

Preferred Qualifications

1) Minimum of two years experience billing insurance for an outpatient primary care practice including physicians, nurse practitioners and ancillary services.
2) Recent & relevant experience working with Practice Management Systems and Electronic Health Records.
3) Certified ICD-9 and CPT coder or biller.
4) Recent & relevant experience with insurance clearinghouses, especially Navicure.
5) Supervisory experience.
6) Experience preparing and reconciling financial reports.

Student Health Center (SHC) at Texas State University Round Rock Campus is seeking a part-time Family Practice Nurse Practitioner for an ambulatory health care facility serving college students from 1pm-5pm Monday-Friday.

Duties

Provide primary medical care to eligible students within the scope of family medicine and following the standard of care for an advanced practice nurse. Document patient encounters in an Electronic Health Record. Assign accurate Evaluation & Management (E&M) codes for patient visits to support the filing of health insurance claims. Consult with supervising physician when appropriate and make referrals to other healthcare providers as necessary.  

 

Required Qualifications

1) Texas Advanced Practice Nurse license with prescriptive authority. Must be in good standing with Texas Medical Board and Texas Board of Nursing.
2) Board Certified in Family Practice
3) DPS registration
4) DEA registration  

 

Preferred Qualifications

1) Basic Cardiac Life Support certificate.
2) Minimum two-years of experience as Advanced Family Practice Nurse providing primary care.
3) Computer experience including use of Microsoft Office and documenting in electronic health records
