Physician - Psychiatrist

Salary Range:  $13,350+/month commensurate with experience for full-time position






Job Description

Student Health Center (SHC) at Texas State University-San Marcos is seeking a full-time or part-time (minimum 20 hours/week) PSYCHIATRIST for an ambulatory outpatient clinic. SHC is a nationally accredited ambulatory health care facility, complete with an in-house lab, x-ray and pharmacy. Our team-oriented organization serves a college population of 36,000+ students. Clinic hours are 8am to 5pm MWF and 9am to 6pm T-Th. No on-call duty, nights or weekends, but additional hours are occasionally required.

Psychiatrist is responsible for providing psychiatric care to students with mental health disorders in accordance with guidelines and accepted standards of care in psychiatry. Provide consultation to medical providers at the Student Health Center and counselors at the Counseling Center. Document all psychiatric care and consultation in the Electronic Medical Record. Supervise and train a licensed vocational nurse assistant. Cover for part-time psychiatrist as needed.


Required Qualifications

MD or DO from an accredited medical school. Current Texas license in good standing with the Texas Medical Board. Board Eligible or Board Certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Current Texas license in good standing with the Texas Medical Board. Current DEA/DPS registrations.


Preferred Qualifications

Board Certified in Adult Psychiatry. Minimum of three years of experience practicing psychiatry after completing residency. Experience working with college, young adult, or culturally diverse populations.
