Required Qualifications

Current LVN license, in good standing, issued by the state of Texas.

Direct patient care nursing experience in a family practice, internal medicine or pediatric clinic, or in a hospital emergency department within the last 5 years.  

Preferred Qualifications

Direct patient care experience in college health. Current IV skills. Experience documenting in electronic medical records systems. Current BLS or ACLS.

Duties

Provide primary medical care to eligible students within the scope of family medicine and following the standard of care for an advanced practice nurse. Document patient encounters in an Electronic Health Record. Assign accurate Evaluation & Management (E&M) codes for patient visits to support the filing of health insurance claims. Consult with supervising physician when appropriate and make referrals to other healthcare providers as necessary.  

Required Qualifications

1) Texas Advanced Practice Nurse license with prescriptive authority. Must be in good standing with Texas Medical Board and Texas Board of Nursing.
2) Board Certified in Family Practice
3) DPS registration
4) DEA registration  

Preferred Qualifications

1) Basic Cardiac Life Support certificate.
2) Minimum two-years of experience as Advanced Family Practice Nurse providing primary care.

Duties include personnel management, maintenance of clinical equipment, management of supply inventory, administration of Infection Control and Workplace Safety programs, development and maintenance of provider and nurse appointment schedules, development of departmental policies and compliance with accreditation standards and state and federal regulations. Some direct patient care responsibilities may be included. Participates on Department Head and Quality Improvement Teams. Reports to Director and assists with special projects as assigned.

2) Personnel management experience.
3) Comprehensive knowledge of nursing standards, laws and rules.
4) Experience using Electronic Medical Records.
5) Experience using Microsoft Office software including Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.  

 

Preferred Qualifications

1) Nurse Practitioner licensed by the State of Texas.
2) Clinical work experience in primary care.
3) Experience managing a large clinic or department.
4) Experience training and presenting to large groups.
