CASHIER

Job Description

Student Health Center (SHC) at Texas State University-San Marcos is seeking a full-time staff Cashier. The purpose of the Cashier is to collect and process point-of-sale transactions of cash, check, credit and debit card payments for services rendered at the Student Health Center. The Cashier is responsible for supervising, hiring, training, and assisting student and NSNR cashiers, creating cashier work schedules, holding cashier meetings, and maintaining written procedure guidelines. The Cashier is also responsible for balancing cash drawers, reconciling cash drawers to payment reports, closing and securing Cashiers Department after hours as scheduled, distributing prescription and OTC drugs, maintaining office inventory, monitoring and reporting waived charges, and reconciling various monthly reports.

SHC is a nationally accredited, team-oriented ambulatory healthcare facility serving a student population of over 35,500. Clinic hours are 8am - 5pm MWF and 9am - 6pm TTh. This position will be REQUIRED to work closing hours, which are later than the actual clinic hours. Additional hours are occasionally required.

Duties

Required Qualifications

1) Experience using Microsoft Office software including Excel.
2) Cash handling experience.
3) Customer service experience.
4) Supervisory experience.  

 

Preferred Qualifications

1) Medical front office experience.
2) Experience verifying health insurance eligibility and benefits.
3) Experience with medical practice management system or electronic medical record.

Job Description

Student Health Center (SHC) at Texas State University-San Marcos is seeking a 2nd full-time Health Promotion Specialist. The Health Promotion Specialist is responsible for collaborating with the Assistant Director to plan, implement, and evaluate theory-and evidence-based health promotion strategies, policies, programs and services on the Texas State campus. Programs include information about alcohol and other drugs, sexual health, mental health and violence prevention, as well as other health-related topics. The Health Promotion Specialist provides resources, educational materials, conducts outreach activities, delivers presentations, assesses health needs, evaluates the effectiveness of programs, and collaborates with key stakeholders on and off campus to develop a comprehensive approach to health promotion. The Health Promotion Specialist also assists with the training and supervision of peer educators.

SHC is a nationally accredited, team-oriented ambulatory health care facility serving a student population of over 34,000. Normal hours for this job are Mon - Fri 8am - 5pm, with occasional evenings and weekends required.

Duties

This position reports to the Assistant Director at the Student Health Center. This position will supervise interns and peer educators. The Health Promotion Specialist will provide health promotion/education programming, organize outreach events, deliver presentations to classes and other groups, write health promotion articles, serve on university teams/committees, conduct and evaluate health education assessment/research and recruit, train and supervise peer educators.  

 

Required Qualifications

1) Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
2) Knowledge of health promotion, behavior change, and population-based health education theories and models.
3) Ability to operate a personal computer using Microsoft Windows and Office, including Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
4) Experience developing and delivering health education information using a variety of educational methods including presentations, workshops, trainings and small group discussion/facilitation.
5) Knowledge of assessment principles.
6) Bachelor's degree.  

 

Preferred Qualifications

1) Certified Health Promotion Specialist.
2) Bachelor's or Master's degree in Health Promotion, Health Education, Public Health or related field.
3) At least two years of college health experience.
4) At least one year of supervisory experience.
5) Knowledge of evidence-based health promotion programs.
5) Experience with developing and delivering social marketing and other types of health communications.
