Pharmaceutical Services

The Student Health Center has a fully licensed pharmacy on site. This pharmacy is for Texas State students only. Because the pharmacy is part of Texas State University-San Marcos, it is a non-profit establishment. As a result, prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications are offered at discounted prices.

Service

  • At the Texas State Pharmacy patient education on prescription drug use is very important. Besides offering drug items at reasonable prices, our pharmacists will answer questions about your medications as well.
  • To receive service, please bring your Texas State ID card. Hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • If you have any questions regarding prescriptions or prices, please call 512.245.3590.

Prescriptions

  • Students may fill their prescriptions from both outside medical providers and/or our on-site medical providers.
  • All prescriptions and refills must be picked up within seven working days or they will be returned to stock. The pharmacy will not call you. It is your responsibility to see that your prescriptions are picked up in a timely manner.
  • To see which prescriptions can be filled at the Student Health Center, view the formulary.

Refill a Prescription

  • To refill a prescription, simply call the pharmacy at 512.245.3590.
  • Be prepared to provide your Texas State student ID number when calling for a refill.
  • Adderall refills must be approved by a medical provider every time. Please contact your medical provider for Adderall refills.

Prescription Transfer

  • If you would like to transfer a prescription to the Texas State Pharmacy from another pharmacy, simply present the prescription label from your last fill and our staff will make the transfer.
  • If the label is not available, please provide the following information:
    • Name and telephone number of the pharmacy that has the prescription on file
    • Name of the patient and date of birth
    • Name of the medication and/or prescription number

Payment

Currently, the only insurance accepted by the Student Health Center is the Texas State optional student insurance plan. However, many of the prescription prices are actually less than what the co-pay would be at a retail pharmacy. Please do not hesitate to ask for prices and compare.
  • Methods of payment:
    • Bobcat Bucks
    • Cash
    • Check
    • All major credit cards
